Chappell, Connor take first in Duncan

Michael Connor and Landry Chappell each collected tournament championships in the Southern Oklahoma Invitational held at Duncan High School.

In total, six Jays made the semi-finals and five to the final round.

Bryan Dutton, Dennis Murphy, and Ryan Kitch fell in the finals and finished with a second place showing. Austin O’Connor, Timothy O’Connor, and John Davison each were third, and Justin Ball placed fourth.

Duncan, ranked seventh in Class 5A, won the team title with  239 points with 3A’s second ranked Comanche team coming in second with 181.5 points and sixth ranked Guthrie was third with 168.5.

Guthrie will take a break from action until a home dual with Northwest Classen on January 6th. However, the team will take time to practice during the holiday break.
