The Guthrie offense found the end zone early and often en route to a 62-0 win over Western Heights inside Jelsma Stadium. The Jays offense scored on their first four possessions to set the early tone.
The BlueJays (7-0, 4-0) collect their 21st win in a row and extend their home winning streak to 32 games. Western Heights (4-3, 1-3) have now lost their last two games after starting the season 3-0. Guthrie has won eight straight games over the Jets dating back to the 2001 season.

The Guthrie defense was stellar by holding Western Heights to only four first downs and 38 yards of total offense. Through seven games, the defense is allowing just 33 yards rushing per game.

On the opening possession of the game, the Jays traveled 80 yards in just seven plays. Quarterback Zane Maltz scored his first touchdown run with an 18-yard score.
Next, the Jets were forced to pass on a third down and seven, the pass was knocked up in the air by linebacker Beau Davis which allowed Jalyn Morgan to dive and complete the interception at Guthrie’s 44-yard line.
Six plays later, the Jays were back in the end zone.
Maltz hit wide-out L’liott Curry for a 32-yard pass and score to go up 14-0 with 4:29 to play in the first quarter.
Maltz finished the game 5-of-7 passing for 119 yards and ran for 60 additional yards. He finished with two passing scores and two running scores.

The Jays defense struck again with their fifth interception in five quarters on the ensuing Western Heights series. Kelyn Hinds picked off the Jets quarterback for his fourth interception on the season.
Again, the offense did not take long to hit pay dirt.
Idae Alexander continues to have a stellar senior season. He finished with 140 yards rushing on 17 carries.
Guthrie needed three plays to go 59 yards. Maltz spotted a wide-open Chance Whitt for a 33-yard touchdown pass in the end zone to end the first quarter scoring, 21-0.
Guthrie scored three more times in the second quarter with a 10-yard run from Maltz and a 32-yard run from running back Idae Alexander.
The third score came from the special teams. The Jets attempted to a 38-yard field goal, but the Jays blocked the attempt and Curry scooped and scored for a 71-yard touchdown.

The BlueJay offense finished with a total of 377 yards, including 258 rushing.
Once again leading the running game was Alexander, who finished with 140 yards on 17 touches.
The second half saw a running clock, but enough time for three more BlueJay scores.
Alexander collected his second with an amazing, tough 27-yard score as he moved the entire Jets defense down past the goal line.
Cal Davis scored his second touchdown of the season with a 2-yard run and after a Jets fumble, Kevin Blue went untouched for a 20-yard score.
Guthrie travels to Douglass High School, next Thursday, to play Southeast (1-6).
