Doug Ogle named Assistant Superintendent for GPS

The Guthrie Board of Education unanimously approved Doug Ogle as the school district’s Assistant Superintendent on Monday evening at the Board of Education meeting.

Since his arrival to the school district in 2013, Ogle has served as a Principal, Executive Director and overlooked Secondary Education.

“Mr. Ogle has served our district as the Principal of Guthrie Junior High School and Executive Director of Personnel and Secondary Education. During his time, he has provided exemplary leadership of our district,” Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson said.

This past June, Dennis Schulz retired as the district’s assistant superintendent and chief financial officer after nearly 20 years.

Simpson says with the recent administrative changes, they have reorganized the responsibilities within the central office administrative office.

Along with his Secondary Education and Director of Personnel responsibilities, Ogle will assume additional duties, including oversight of the Transportation Department.

Michelle Chapple, who was hired in March, serves as the new Chief Finance Officer.

Angie Smedley, who was also hired in March with the retirement of Eldona Woodruff, serves as the Director of Special Education.

Carmen Walters continues as the Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education.

Cody Thompson continues as the Director of Operations.

“I’m thankful we have such a professional group of leaders in our district,” Simpson said.
