Drew Dodgion swings her way to first place in Guthrie tourney

Drew Dodgion defended her territory by winning the Guthrie Junior High golf tournament held last week as nine teams from 13 high schools emerged onto Guthrie Golf and Country Club.

Dodgion, the daughter of Travis and Shane Dodgion, scored a course low 43 to claim first place. Her second place competition finished with a 47 on the scorecard and third place recorded a 48.

Dodgion played even par through the first five holes. After a tough sixth and seventh hole, Dodgion went on to birdie number eight. On the ninth, she delivered a great shot to the green, but finished with three puts to finish one over.

The Lady Jays scored an overall 229 to finish fifth overall. Carl Albert took the team title with a 201.

Guthrie is coached by Ron Gillett.
