An on-duty Logan County deputy was rushed to an Oklahoma City hospital late Saturday night following a two-vehicle crash.

Shortly after 11 p.m., a Logan County deputy made radio contact with dispatch to inform them he had just been involved in a rollover crash. Quickly Oak Cliff Fire, Deer Creek Fire, Guthrie EMS, and fellow deputies responded to the scene on Sooner Road at Charter Oak Road.

Both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles. Both vehicles appeared to be totaled and were forced to be towed from the scene.

The deputy, who was put into a neck brace, was treated by firefighters. The deputy was able to walk to a stretcher with assistance. He was transported to OU Medical Center with neck and back pain for further evaluation of his injuries. They arrived at the hospital at 11:57 p.m.

The driver of the four-door car was detained by deputies and later arrested by OHP. According to witnesses, an odor of alcohol was present on the male driver.

Initial reports indicate the deputy was driving northbound on Sooner Road, and the male driver of the four-door car was westbound on Charter Oak Road. It is believed the driver did not yield (at a stop sign) to oncoming traffic and struck the deputy’s truck causing it to roll over.

OHP continues to investigate the case and has not released any specific details of the wreck.

The roadway was completely blocked off for nearly two hours.
