Drivers transported following a crash in south county

Two drivers were transported to OU Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon after two vehicles collided together.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2010 Hyundai Accent was traveling eastbound on W. Charter Oak Road and a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling westbound on W Charter Oak Road just after 4 p.m.

Troopers report the Accent, driven by 49-year-old Scott Cotignola, of Edmond, crossed into oncoming lanes. In reaction, the Crosstrek, driven by 74-year-old Aline Keller, of Guthrie, swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid impact.

However, the Accent struck the Crosstrek on the front driver side causing the Crosstrek to lose control and continue off of the roadway and impacting a tree.

Cotignola and Keller were both transported by EMSA and were admitted in fair condition with injuries to the head, trunk internal, and trunk external.

Troopers said the condition of the drivers at the time was apparently normal, and the cause of the collision was “unsafe speeds.”

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
