Eagle Scout Andrew Willoughby presented his Eagle Project to the Guthrie City Council at Tuesday’s meeting.

Andrew’s project, Operation Atlas, is a website that maps the graves of military veterans at Summit View Cemetery, in Guthrie, where Andrew and his fellow scouts (Troop #850) painstakingly photographed and uploaded data for each known veteran buried there.

Andrew says this interactive map will allow the Troop to place flags on the Veteran’s graves as well as benefit other organizations such as the American Legion, VFW, and Wreaths Across America.

The website will also benefit family members, genealogy groups, and historians.

Andrew worked with city officials to obtain the data.

“Inputting all that data and mapping that data is a huge asset and resource for the City of Guthrie,” City Manager Eddie Faulkner said. “Now, we have that data, and going forward you see how easy it is to add that in.”

The city manager thanked Andrew for his commitment and informed the council that Andrew had earned his Eagle Scout from this project.

The interactive site can be found here.
