Easton Vasquez named GPS Student of the Month

Easton Vasquez was named Guthrie Public Schools’ Student of the Month for the month of May. He was nominated by his teacher Mrs. Medlock.

Nicholas, a fourth-grade student at Cotteral Elementary, was nominated for his integrity.

Mrs. Medlock says Easton fits many of the character traits that the school selects students from the student of the month, but that integrity mostly fits Easton.

“He helps others with schoolwork and at recess,” Mrs. Medlock said. “He helps other teachers when needed. Easton has not complained about any task given.”

His teacher says he makes the “right choices when no one is looking. His classmates enjoy having him around.”

Easton enjoys sports, music, police/military, and dad jokes.

The district-wide student of the month program is sponsored locally by Foundation Insurance.

Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance presented Mason with a $50 Walmart gift card and spoke to the classroom about insurance.

This is the fifth year of the program that honors students for their character traits.
