Emergency Managers convened in Guthrie for workshop

The City of Guthrie hosted over 30 emergency managers from the state this week for the NW Emergency Management Workshop.

Logan County Emergency Manager David Ball served as the host manager as the group held training sessions on July 8-10.

On Thursday, the group took a trip to the Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport to view the A-10 Warthog, which is being retro-fitted for weather research.

Zivko Aeronautics Inc. has the tasked with converting the retired jet into the A-10 Storm Penetrating Aircraft to go up against Oklahoma thunderstorms.

Two years ago, the aircraft was flying over Afghanistan taking on gun and canon fire, so the experts are fairly confident it can handle the Oklahoma thunderstorms.
