Flood waters take down another county bridge

Heavy rains and flooding washed out a second bridge in Logan County this week. This time in the southern portion of the county.

On Tuesday, heavy rains once again caused the Cottonwood Creek to rise and in the process took out the west approach of the bridge located on Seward Road – west of the railroad tracks between Broadway and Santa Fe Ave.

Along with the westbound lane taken out, the bridge’s abutment, that supports the bridge structurally, washed out as well.

The result left about a 20 foot drop.

Evidence appears to show an eddy current formed resulting in the bank washing out.

On the same night, a bridge in northern Logan County, west of Orlando, was completely taken out with high waters. Related story: Tornado and flash flood warnings cause havoc in Logan County
