“We rely a great deal on the partnerships with our local chamber of commerce representatives to help us communicate with current and potential customers about our business services and customized training programs,” said Doug Major, Superintendent/CEO of Meridian. “The support Meridian receives from the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce is instrumental in developing and maintaining relationships with Guthrie business and industry partners. They certainly deserve this recognition for their efforts.

Mary Coffin, Guthrie Chamber of Commerce president, accepted the award during the recent Partners for Progress luncheon held at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

“Receiving the award was certainly a surprise,” Coffin said following the ceremony. “We are honored to be recognized by Meridian. It’s wonderful when you get acknowledged for work you enjoy doing.” Coffin indicated the Chamber of Commerce wasn’t the only winner of this award, but it also represents the efforts of the citizens of Guthrie.

“The chamber is really a resource for our businesses and even our residents,” she said. “When our members have a need, the chamber wants to be able to meet it. Having Meridian as a partner is like having the entire school right here in our community and at our member’s fingertips.”

Last year Meridian partnered with the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce to provide training for chamber members and citizens of Guthrie in the areas of computer training, employee development and customized business courses. Additionally, the chamber promotes Meridian’s services to members on a regular basis.

Meridian Technology Center is a career and technology training center located in Stillwater, Okla.
