The Guthrie Lady Jays basketball program will soon be searching for a new head coach after Terry Carris informed the Guthrie school board he will not continue his coaching duties.

Carris, the assistant principal at the junior high, coached five seasons at Guthrie beginning with the 2007-2008 school year. He finishes with an overall record of 47-71.

The most succesful season for the program, under the guidance of Carris, came in his first season when his team captured the 2008 regional championship for the first time since 1993. The team finished with an overall record of 13-12 and just missing out on the state tournament.

Under his guidance, he coached one all-stater in Emily Davis during the ’08 season.

Carris coached in the mid 1980’s in his first stint at Guthrie helping lead teams to the state tournament 1985 and 1986. In ’86, Guthrie finished as state runner-ups.
