The Guthrie Lady Jays had 16 days off from game action and through three-quarters held their own on the road at sixth ranked Carl Albert.

Despite holding a 4-point lead (39-35) heading into the final eight minutes of the game, Carl Albert finished the game with a 17-5 run for the 58-46 win over the 14th ranked Lady Jays. CA improves to 11-8 overall while the Lady Jays fall to 8-8.

Guthrie Head Coach Terry Carris had to spend a time-out in the first 41 seconds of the game after Carl Albert scored five quick points. His team responded out of the time-out and outscored the Lady Titans 14-10 in the remainder of the quarter to make it a 15-14 first quarter score.

In the second quarter alone, the game saw nine lead changes throughout. However, Guthrie scored 14-points in the quarter and held Carl Albert to 13-points to go into the locker room tied at 28-all.

In the third quarter, Carl Albert hit the first shot from the field, but only to see Guthrie go on a 11-4 run to end the quarter with a 39-35 lead. A lead that would quickly go away.

The Lady Titans tied the game in the first 1:20 of the final quarter to tie the game. Guthrie senior Jill Davis, who scored a team high 12 points, hit a field goal to give her team the lead back, 41-39, but Carl Albert then went on a game winning 17-5 run.

Guthrie will be back in action Saturday evening when they travel to Deer Creek. The game was originally to be played last week, but was canceled due to the winter storm.
Guthrie Scoring: Jill Davis 12, Gracynn Smith 9, Ashley Shields 8, Melinda Murillo 8, Macey Brown 6, Mikaela Murillo 3
