Guthrie High School classes will be canceled on Tuesday, August 18, due to an air-conditioning issue affecting more than half of the building.
According to Guthrie Public Schools, a faulty chiller is impacting the school’s ability to provide adequate air conditioning throughout the high school.
Because virtual school days are no longer an option, the district said the need to make up Tuesday’s missed school day will be determined later in the school year.
Guthrie High School is the only GPS building affected by the closure. Classes at all other Guthrie Public Schools campuses will continue on their normal schedules.
Students who attend Meridian Technology Center and Faver Alternative School will also attend classes at their regularly scheduled times.
Guthrie High School staff members are still expected to report to work Tuesday and will relocate to portions of the building where air conditioning remains operational.
The district said additional information regarding a potential makeup day will be provided later in the school year.
