Nearly one year after a fatal crash on Interstate 35, an Oklahoma City man has been charged with two counts of first-degree manslaughter following an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Jonathan Aubrey Bush, 41, is accused in connection with the Aug. 14, 2025 crash that killed his passenger, Mark Majors of Midwest City.

According to the original OHP investigation, Bush was driving a 2019 Hino box truck southbound on I-35 near Mile Marker 163 when the truck left the roadway and struck an unoccupied construction vehicle in an active work zone. The construction vehicle had an operating arrow board providing warning of the work zone.

Bush told investigators at the scene that he apparently fell asleep while driving, causing the truck to leave the roadway.

A witness told investigators he saw the box truck leave the roadway and strike the construction vehicle. The witness also reported seeing Bush exit the vehicle while smoking what he believed to be a marijuana vape pen.

Jonathan Aubrey Bush, a resident of Oklahoma City, has been charged in the death of Mark Majors.

Both Bush and Majors were transported to Oklahoma City hospitals following the crash. Majors later died from injuries sustained in the collision, while Bush was treated and released.

OHP Traffic Homicide Unit’s investigation included processing the box truck and submitting evidence and Bush’s blood samples to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for testing.

According to the probable cause affidavit, investigators found THC gummies, a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like residue, and other items commonly associated with illicit drugs inside a black bag located between the driver’s and passenger’s seats.

OSBI testing of Bush’s blood detected norfentanyl, 4-ANPP, fentanyl, hydroxy-THC, THCA, THC, and benzoylecgonine. Testing of items recovered from the truck detected cocaine, fentanyl, and tetrahydrocannabinols.

The affidavit concludes that Bush was driving the truck under the influence of illicit drugs and that his failure to operate the vehicle safely resulted in the collision and Majors’ death.

Court records show two counts were filed against Bush, including first-degree manslaughter involving tetrahydrocannabinols and fentanyl, a Class A2 felony, and first-degree manslaughter, a Class A2 felony.

A warrant for Bush’s arrest was issued June 17, 2026. Bush was taken into custody Aug. 12.

He appeared by video in Logan County District Court on Aug. 13, where he was advised of his rights and the charges against him. Judge Vaughan set bond at $250,000 and scheduled the case for Sept. 3, 2026, at 2 p.m.
