Customers visiting Guthrie’s McDonald’s will soon notice some major changes as the restaurant prepares for a complete remodel and rebuild of the longtime location.

According to company officials, the Guthrie McDonald’s is expected to serve its final customers on June 26 before temporarily closing for construction.

Demolition of the existing restaurant is scheduled to begin shortly after the Fourth of July holiday as crews clear the site and begin work on a new facility.

The restaurant is targeting an early October reopening date, although construction schedules can be impacted by weather and other factors.

When the new store opens, customers can expect a modernized McDonald’s featuring updated amenities and design elements found in the company’s newest locations.

Officials also noted that one of the top general managers within the McDonald’s organization is expected to help oversee operations at the Guthrie restaurant upon its reopening.

While the Guthrie location is closed, area residents will have another nearby option. McDonald’s is scheduled to open its new restaurant on Waterloo Road on June 30, just days after the Guthrie store closes for construction.
