Guthrie motorcyclist  killed on Interstate 35

A motorcyclist was killed late Sunday evening on Interstate 35 near the Guthrie northbound on ramp.

Just after 11 p.m., witnesses called 911 stating a man was struck multiple times in the northbound lanes at mile marker 153.

The victim, 42-year-old Adam Been, of Guthrie, was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Been was driving a 2015 Indian Chieftain motorcycle and was on the northbound on ramp to Interstate 35 when it departed the ramp to the left, striking the ditch, projecting the driver into the outside lane of Interstate 35 northbound.

The motorcycle continued north, skidded across the center median and coming to a rest on the southbound off ramp.

The report shows two other vehicles involved and is listed as under investigation after not remaining at the scene.

OHP idntified the cause of the collision as too fast for conditions.

The driver was not wearing a helmet.

The interstate was completely shut down in both directions. The southbound lanes were reopened at 1:27 a.m. and the northbound lanes at 2:20 a.m.

The Guthrie Police Department, Guthrie Fire Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office and OHP were dispatched to the scene.
