It was only fitting that the Guthrie BlueJays came out in their black and blue jersey’s for the first time on Senior Night. After all, that is how their opponents have felt afterwards this season.

Class 5A’s top ranked Guthrie BlueJays capped off a perfect 10-0 regular season with a 48-0 win over the Southeast Spartans. However, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association has ruled the Jays played with an ineligible player in eight of the 10 games this season and thus hold a 2-8 record and out of the playoffs. “I know right now it appears we are 2-8, but we are 10-0 no matter what the outcome is. For the sixth time this season, the Jays shut-out their opponent, including their last three opponents. To put it into perspective, the 2007 Guthrie state championship team (14-0) collected seven shut-outs in the regular season. To take it a step further, the 2011 Guthrie squad has outscored their opponents 433-63.
Guthrie celebrated a total of 16 seniors Friday evening and two of those Jays scored their first high school touchdown. Cole Minter scored the game’s first touchdown while LaMarc Allison scored the final touchdown of the night as the Jays built up the 48-0 score by halftime.
With Minter’s touchdown, Guthrie has scored on each of their opening drives this season.
Senior running back Luke Davis was simply amazing with 171 rushing yards on just six-carries with three of those ending in the end zone. Davis continues to lead Class 5A in points scored and eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing plateau with 1,063 to go along with a total (rushing and receiving) of 21 touchdowns.
The BlueJays welcomed back senior John Clark back to the line-up after sitting the past few weeks with an injury and with his returned hauled in a diving 14-yard touchdown reception in the northeast corner of the end zone.
The lone non-offensive score came from sophomore Kai Callins on a 45-yard punt return for his second return this season.
Watkins said the team will practice as normal on Monday and Tuesday and will prepare for Durant for what they hope will be a first round playoff game inside Jelsma Stadium. The appeal will be on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Seeing how these boys went in after all that’s happened and still hold their heads high and come out with an amazing win! Like they always do of course just shows how much it means too them. They did Nothing wrong. And no matter what the outcome is they will ALWAYS be 10-0 . Punishing the whole team for something that isn’t even correct is bs. But we GUTHRIE fans know who the real champions are!(: These boys earned their spot in playoffs! And for anyone too even try and take that away from them is selffish. But that’s okay! The football players and students of guthrie high school still have hope! We don’t give up. Just everyone needs too know guthrie did Nothing wrong clint lives in town! But we GUTHRIE BLUEJAYS run the show and even though were goin through a nightmare WE STILL HOLD OUR HEADS HIGH. 10-0 baby can’t noone take that away.
