Guthrie school leaders discuss facility needs, academic growth at retreat

District school leaders discussed possible upgrades to Guthrie High School, Guthrie Junior High, and Guthrie Upper Elementary School at a special Board of Education meeting and leadership retreat at Meridian Technology Center.

The meeting brought together school board members, district administrators, and building principals to discuss long-range planning, communication, academic growth, and student demographics.

Board members heard directly from each building principal, providing an opportunity to discuss individual school needs alongside priorities for the district as a whole.

The long-range planning discussion included potential improvements at the high school, junior high, and GUES. Participants also reviewed the district’s current financial position related to bonding as part of the conversation about future needs.

Chronic absenteeism was another topic, along with academic growth and the challenges facing students and schools.

According to Guthrie Public Schools, the retreat allowed board members and school leaders to share perspectives and discuss the district’s future.

The possible facility upgrades were discussed as part of the planning process. Specific projects, costs, and construction timelines were not identified in the information provided.
