Guthrie students participate in Walk to School Day

This year’s version of Walk to School Day was met with cooler temperatures on Wednesday morning, but it did not stop several elementary students from making the trip.

Students from Fogarty Elementary met at the First Christian Church, Guthrie Upper Elementary School took off from the Armory Central Elementary students made the trip from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and St. Mary’s from Highland Park.

Parents, teachers, community leaders and officers with the Guthrie Police Department joining the students for the walk.

Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community.
