Dana Hornbeck was born to William (Bill) Roten, Jr. and Carolyn (Cox) Roten at the old Guthrie Hospital, Alverno Heights Hospital, and raised in Crescent where she currently resides. After graduating from Crescent High School, Class of ‘86, she then went on to higher education and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While playing on the OSU Intramural freshman football team, she met her husband John Hornbeck, who just happened to be her coach. They have been married for 23 years and have one son, Dawson, who is 11.

Despite always saying that she never EVER wanted to go into banking, Hornbeck has now been in the banking industry for over 28 years. She started working for the Crescent branch of Guthrie Savings and Loan during high school and continued working for another bank throughout her college career. After changing her college major a few times, she finally graduated in December of ’90 with her Bachelor of Science degree for teaching. But, since it was the middle of a school year, it was hard finding a teaching job anywhere. So, she went back to what she knew; the basics of banking. Following in her father’s footsteps, who was and still is a banker, she was hired on at The Bank of Crescent, which was in the extended family of the BancFirst banks. Dana then transferred to BancFirst-Guthrie after The Bank of Crescent was sold in the early 90’s. She has held every position in the loan department, but ultimately had a passion for creating long-lasting relationships with people. As she found herself wanting to be a loan officer, she took a leap of faith, and now will be celebrating her 15th year as a lender.

Dana HornbeckDana, “I love what I do. Even though it can be stressful at times, it is a wonderful job. Being able to help someone, whether immediately or over a period of years, to achieve their dreams is a great feeling. No matter if it’s helping someone buy a car, home, starting a business or maybe even funding a wedding, adoption or education, it’s a rejuvenating feeling. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Dana Hornbeck doesn’t just limit her passion for helping people to sitting behind a desk in an office; she takes it to the community. She has served in many capacities over the years which include being a former board member of the Logan Hospital for 12 years, formerly serving as Treasurer and Vice Chairman of Logan County Red Cross, and having served as a board member for United Way along with serving on their Allocations Committee. Dana has also been a board member of the STUN Coalition in Logan County, and served as the Treasurer for the Guthrie Business and Professional Women, as well as steering committees for the OSU Extension. Having been a former President of the Guthrie Rotary Club, Dana is now currently serving as a member on their Board of Directors.

Dana concluded with, “I feel blessed to call Logan County my home. I live in Crescent, work in Guthrie, and student taught kids from Coyle, Langston, and Meridian. I played basketball against folks in Mulhall-Orlando and even danced, in days gone by, at Prairie City Days in Marshall. Logan County folks are great!”

Dana is one of the kindest persons on the planet. After the recent deaths of both my parents she was extremely helpful and compassionate. She always has a smile or a hug to brighten your day. She is the best of the best.
