The Guthrie Junior High Tennis teams were back in action at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center playing in the Choctaw/Nicoma Park Tournament after winning the Mustang Tournament on the same courts.
The end result once again was another team championship for the Lady Jays.
The Junior Lady Jays almost swept the tournament by winning the overall team championship trophy with No. 1 singles Jillian Chappell winning first as did No. 2 singles Kamber Smedley.
In doubles action, Doubles Victoria Sarasua and Ryan Robbins playing in No. 1 doubles took second, and in No. 2 doubles Kaitlyn Walls and Kayleigh Hopfer took the top place.
“I am enjoying our winning season and glad their hard work is paying off. This is a great group of kids,” head coach Shelley Berryman said. “Coach Jason Rice has also seen great improvement in the team.”
The Junior High boys had one medalist with No. 2 singles player Hunter Moore finished third while Erin Hartley took fifth at No. 1 singles.
Both doubles teams placed eighth overall. No. 1 doubles consisted of Jacob Ventris and Jaden Weatherfod and the No. 2 team of Ryan Bramlett and Hunter Swartzbaugh. Other supporting the teams were Kristen Walters, Madison Mize, Casey Carroll, and Casey Carey.
