John Winters
Muskogee, Okla. – Dr. John Winters was recently informed that he and Dr. Robert Doan of the University of Southern Mississippi were awarded a $500 grant from the National Association for Sports Officials (NASO) to conduct research for the NASO.
Dr. Winters will serve as the co-investigator and Dr. Doan as the principal investigator to conduct research.
The purpose of the study is to explore the social profile of college baseball officials. Secondary goals include analyzing socialization patterns of umpires and to explore positive and negative factors in regards to perceived barriers in goal attainment in officiating subcultures.
