MTC celebrates success of program completers; recognition event set for May 21

STILLWATER, Okla. – Nearly 230 students from Meridian Technology Center will be recognized for completing their training during the school’s upcoming Recognition Ceremony.

Student achievements will be recognized at 6 pm on May 21 at the Seretean Center Concert Hall at Oklahoma State University.

In addition to students who are completing their career training, Meridian will recognize students who have maintained outstanding academic standards throughout the school year and are members of National Technical Honor Society, the Leadership Class and Outstanding Students from each program area.

“Student success is something we are proud to celebrate,” said Superintendent/CEO Dr. Douglas Major. “Students who complete their career training at Meridian continue on to higher education or a job related to their program of study at a rate of 91 percent. Whether students are college or career bound, we know their decision to become Meridian Made is a major step on their journey to success, and we are excited to share this moment with them.”

Students attending Meridian are able to choose from one of more than 70 career majors that can be customized to fit their pace and their individual learning style. High school students living in the Meridian district attend tuition free in either a morning or afternoon session and training takes approximately two years. Adults are able to attend full time or part time and typically complete programs in one or two years.

MTC is a career and technology training center located in Stillwater, Okla. The center has more than 70 career majors and offers a wide variety of evening personal and professional development courses and certifications for many diverse career fields. Meridian also offers services to businesses in need of training and development. Each year approximately 11,000 students come to Meridian from all areas of business and industry.
