Just five days after winning the 7th grade girls and boys Perkins Tournaments, it was Perkins turned to visit the Guthrie Junior High Gymnasium.

Guthrie won three of the four games. The 7th grade Lady Jays won with ease with a 30-14 win. Leading the scoring charge was Micayla Haynes with 10 points,  Aaliyah Allison eight, and  Jillian Chappell also with eight.

The 8th grade dropped their game 37-2o and were paced by Kamber Smedley’s 12 points and Bianca Harding’s four.

In boys action, the 7th grade boys won 34-24. “It was a tough, physical game with foul trouble on both teams,” Coach Matt Perring said.

All five BlueJays starters scored (Carlos Coppage, Jaron Pryor, Kevin Blue, Joshua Honeycutt, Chase Bufford). The team executed 11 of 20 of their free throw’s.

“Proud of the effort and the way the guys are starting to play as a team,” Perring said.

In the nightcap, the 8th grade boys handled the Demons for the win.

Guthrie will finish the first half of the season with a road trip to Deer Creek on Monday. All four teams will be off from game action until January 4th.
