Junior Jays welcome coach; finish sixth in Kingfisher

The Guthrie Junior High wrestling team hit the mat for the first time in the month of December with the Kingfisher Tournament this past weekend.

Head Coach Eric Woodard joined the team and assistant coach Bryan Couch following his football coaching duties to see his squad finish sixth overall. 

The BlueJays landed three wrestler’s on top of their division with first place finishes – Brent Berryhill, Blake Finley, and Corey Douglass.

Dalton Lindgren had a second place finish while Alex Nelson placed third and Jose Perez fourth.

The Junior Jays will be at Perkins, this Thursday, for the first dual of the season along with the varsity. The Junior High will start at 6:00 with the varsity to follow at 7:00. The Junior Jays will then turn around and participate in the Shawnee Dual Tournament Friday and Saturday.
