Lady Jays Tennis going to state with regional showing

The Guthrie Lady Jays entered the tennis regional with the intent of sending all six players to this weeks state tournament. Mission accomplished.

The Lady Jays will be represented in both singles and doubles competition when they play at a familiar place in the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

To qualify for state, each player or team needed to finish fourth or higher.

The regional was held at Heritage Hall on Monday. 

#1 Singles  Cheyenne Royal placed 3rd

1st round she defeated El Reno 6-0, 6-0
2nd round she lost to Deer Creek 6-0, 6-3
3rd round she defeated Southeast 6-0, 6-1
Final round she defeated Del City in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 7-5

#2 Singles Heidi Kuruvilla placed 3rd

1st round she had a bye
2nd round she lost to Carl Albert 6-2, 6-1
3rd round she defeated Southeast 6-1, 7-5
In the final round she defeated Deer Creek 6-2, 6-3

#1 Doubles Sarah Howells and Carissa Mathena  placed 4th

In the first round they defeated Del City 6-2, 6-1
In the second round they lost to Deer Creek 6-3, 6-3
In the third round they defeated Southeast 6-1, 6-0
In the final round they lost to Carl Albert 6-3, 6-7, 6-3

#2 Doubles Kaylea Hopfer and Ryan Robbins placed 4th

In the first round they defeated Southeast 6-0, 6-0
In the second round they lost to Heritage Hall 6-1, 6-0
In the third round they defeated El Reno 6-0, 6-3
In the last round they lost to Deer Creek 6-3, 6-3
