Logan County nonprofits and government agencies providing emergency food and shelter program are urged to apply for funding by June 24. The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board selected Logan County to receive $5,638 in funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs, as well as an additional $23,907 in funding through the recently passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board National Board is a program of the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, U.S.A.; National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A; The Salvation Army; United Jewish Communities and United Way of America.
A board of local government and nonprofit representatives will determine how the funds will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.
The agencies chosen to receive funds must be private, voluntary nonprofits or units of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and, if they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.
