A man facing three counts of rape of a 7-year-old boy was sentenced to four decades in prison after pleading guilty in a Logan County courtroom in front of the victim’s parents.

Randy Todd English, 39 of Edmond, pleaded guilty to three counts of first degree rape of a minor and sentenced to 40 years in prison, with the last 20 years suspended. The sentence was handed down Thursday afternoon by Special District Judge Louis Duel on request of the State.

English waived his right for a jury trial and admitted guilt to the three counts of first degree rape that occurred around in 2010.

Following the sentence, the victim’s mother read from a short, prepared statement that ended with her facing English and saying “you’re sick” while weeping.

Along with the prison sentence, English was ordered to pay fines and court costs, register as a sex offender, can no longer have contact with anyone under the age of 13 and is to never have contact with the victim.

English could avoid the final 20 years of his sentence with good behavior, but will not be up for parole until 85% of the 20 year sentence is completed.

In addition, English was sentenced to one-year in the county jail for writing a bogus check to obtain merchandise and must pay $1,044.44 along with court costs.
