Motorcycle accident claims life of OKC man; fire totals mobile home

The Memorial Day weekend began with a fatal motorcycle accident in Guthrie city limits near Interstate 35. Unfortunately that wasn’t the only emergency. The fatal accident was also accompanied by two fires and four minor vehicle accidents on Highway 33.

Fatality AccidentShortly after 12 p.m. on Friday, emergency crews responded to the I-35 northbound on ramp at mile marker 153 for a motorcycle accident. Officials say the motorcyclist attempted to get onto the highway, but for some unknown reason lost control of his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle and struck a drainage cover.

Dr. John Hall, 68, of Oklahoma City was mediflighted to OU Medical Center with a head injury, but was pronounced dead on Saturday morning.

Four accidents were reported on E. Noble (Highway 33) with three occurring on Friday just before the Hwy 33 and I-35 bridge intersection. The fourth vehicle accident, on Saturday, was just to the east of the highway bridge. There were no injuries reported at any of the scenes. Just before 6 p.m. on Friday, the Guthrie Fire Department quickly extinguish a truck fire in the middle of the roadway in the 1700 block of E. Perkins. A maroon, Chevrolet pickup’s engine appeared to have over-heated causing the engine to engulf with flames. There were no injuries reported.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday, the Woodcrest and Sooner fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire in the 2400 block of Summit Road. Fire crews arrived to find a mobile home that was fully engulfed. The structure is a complete loss. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
