The Mulhall-Orlando livestock judging teams kicked off the judging season with an outstanding showing at the Northern Oklahoma College Sheep and Field Days Livestock Judging Contest.
Leading the way was the Junior 4-H team, which earned the title of Champion Team after an impressive performance against the competition. Individually, Beckett Wiss placed 2nd Overall, while McKinley Graves finished 4th Overall, helping secure the team’s first-place finish.
The Senior FFA livestock judging team also had a successful start to the season, placing 14th overall. While the contest marked the beginning of the judging season, the team gained valuable experience that will help prepare them for future competitions throughout the year.
Livestock judging teaches students to evaluate livestock based on structural correctness, muscling, balance, and overall quality while developing critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills. Competitions like Sheep Days provide members with opportunities to apply their knowledge in a competitive setting and continue building confidence in their abilities.
