Polling site overcomes ice storm in time for Tuesday’s election

A contingency plan is in full effect for a polling location in Logan County following the crippling October ice storm.

The Guthrie Housing Authority is currently without power from last week’s storm. On Monday afternoon, power was restored to Noble Avenue Baptist Church, another polling site.

The Housing Authority serves as one of the largest polling locations in the county.

The Logan County Board of County Commissioners held an emergency meeting Monday morning to set forth a plan if electricity was not restored in time for Tuesday’s election.

OG&E agreed to supply all the necessary equipment, including an industrial generator to not only power the polling machines, but to provide light for voters.

District 3 Commissioner Monty Pieracy agreed to supply the generators with fuel.

The generator was delivered on Monday afternoon.
