Robbins wins consolation bracket in Ada

The Lady Jays tennis team was able to play in the Ada Tournament on March 8, but the Bluejays were unable to get on the court after rains canceled the following day action.

Lady Jays TennisIn No. 1 singles Cheyenne Royal placed 10th after she lost in the first round to Shawnee 6-0, 6-2, in the second round she defeated Norman 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 and in the last round she became ill and had to default to McAlester.

In No. 2 singles action, Ryan Robbins won the consolation bracket after she dropped her first round match to Deer Creek 6-2, 6-1 before winning her next two matches, including a 6-2, 6-0 win over Norman North and in the consolation round she defeated Western Heights 7-5, 6-4.

The No. 1 doubles team of Jillian Chappell and Carissa Mathena placed 5th to improve their overall record to 12-3.

They won their first round against Norman North 6-4, 6-2, in the second round they lost to Ada in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-10, in the third round defeated Norman 6-3, 6-3 and in the final match defeated Deer Creek in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

In No. 2 doubles action, Sarah Howells and Heidi Kuruvilla placed 6th. The duo won their frist round against Western Heights 6-1, 6-1 before losing to Ardmore 6-4, 6-1. In the 5th place match, they lost to Heritage Hall 6-3, 6-1.
