Updated on June 22, 2016 — BOE approves to reduce minimum contract days for school staff
Guthrie Public Schools will hold a special meeting next week to hear a recommendation on the reduction of contract days for all school staff members.
School board members will listen to a presentation from Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson on his recommendation for a reduction in the minimum number of contract days for all GPS support personnel employed for the upcoming school year.
The recommendation is result of the lack of funds from the financial crisis facing Oklahoma schools.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at the administration building located at 802 E. Vilas.
School officials list 137 personnel employees throughout the district, including kitchen, janitor and secretary staffs.
School board members are expected to discuss in executive session and return for discussion and a vote.
In April, Simpson noted the Guthrie school district was expected to see a reduction of $1.5 million in funding for the approaching school year. Related story: Guthrie schools will need to cut $1.5 million from next year’s budget
