Seifert returns to Squires Field for Junior High Invitational

Hayden SeifertSquires Field is hosting the Junior High Invitational this week as seven schools have made their way to Guthrie. One of those teams are the Goldbugs of Alva High School. The lead Goldbug is a Bluejay alum.

Hayden Seiftert, a Guthrie High School graduate of 2012, is leading his Goldbugs in the three-day event and so far is on top of pool play with a 2-0 record.

This past spring, Seifert finished his first season as an assistant coach at the Class 2A school.

Seifert, who signed with Oklahoma Baptist University out of GHS, helped lead the Jays on the mound and at first base in his four years.

On day one of the summer tourney, Alva blanked Jones (12-0) and on Friday, again, had no troubles with a six-inning run rule win over Class 6A Westmoore (10-2)

Bluejays roll in first game over Cashion

Nolan Gagnon and Bryce Robinson combined to throw five shut-out innings en route to a 9-0 win over Cashion.

The Guthrie duo also led the Guthrie offense in the win with multiple hits.

In the game of the day, Harrah edged by Westmoore 7-6 and Stillwater got past Kingfisher 9-6
