Several fire departments needed to extinguish grass fire

Logan County fire departments responded to eastern Logan County for a grass fire that kept firefighters busy for approximately five hours.

The Meridian Fire Department requested agency assistance with brush trucks and tankers around 5 p.m. in the area of Luther Road and Forrest Hills Road. Crews from Guthrie, Fallis, Sooner, Coyle, Luther, Oak Cliff, Iowa Tribe and Woodcrest assisted.

Due to a heavily wooded area, four wheelers and gators were also brought in to help put out the flames.

The fire appears to have been started from discarded charcoal from a grill.

In total, 40 acres were burned up. No structures were damaged and no injuries reported.
