Severe weather: Have a plan; no public storm shelters

With possible severe weather being forecast for Wednesday, the Guthrie Fire Department is reminding everyone to review their Tornado Safety Precautions and have a plan of where you’re going to go in the event a tornado warning is issued for the Guthrie area.

The City of Guthrie has no designated public shelters.

“Please research and have a plan of where you will go if needed,” a social media post said.

The fire station, City Hall and the Guthrie Police Department are not public shelters.

“Do not plan on going to one of these locations seeking shelter,” the post said.

According the weather service, the highest chances for any severe storms will be later this afternoon, when storms are expected to form along a dry line that will push into central Oklahoma after 3 p.m.
