Guthrie Public Schools received a generous donation Monday night as Brian Billings of Sonic (Highway 33 and I-35) presented an $8,000 check to Cotteral Elementary School during the Board of Education meeting.
Cotteral Principal Lesley Cotton accepted the donation, continuing a long-standing tradition of support from Billings, who has contributed thousands of dollars to Guthrie schools each year since 2007. His approach ensures that each school building within the district benefits from his generosity.
“A bunch of little prizes are nice, but one big prize is great. They (schools) all need so much,” Billings said.
Beyond direct donations, Sonic also plays a key role in supporting Guthrie High School athletics through sponsorship of athletic broadcasts.
“It’s very fortunate that we are able to do this and are very excited that we can do it,” Billings added.
Billings’ continued support highlights the strong relationship between local businesses and the Guthrie school community, helping provide valuable resources for students and staff.
