Technology helps find stolen vehicle

A woman sits behind bars after law enforcement spotted her in a reported stolen vehicle. All because of technology.

On Sunday evening, an owner of a vehicle called the Guthrie Police Department reported their vehicle was stolen on the east side of Pine St. The reporting party said the vehicle had taken off westbound.

The caller also informed police that their phone was still in the vehicle and was able to track the movements through GPS.

A short time later, a Logan County deputy spotted the vehicle on State Highway 33 at Commerce. The deputy and a Guthrie officer took the woman into custody.

Ashley Floyd, 38, of Kingfisher, and formerly of Guthrie and Crescent, according to online records. She was charged with larceny of a vehicle in district court on Tuesday.

She was given a $10,000 bond and a Feb. 15 court date.

Just days before being charged with larceny, Floyd was charged with breaking entering, obstructing an officer, and public intoxication. The acts allegedly took place on Jan. 28.
