Two victims shot early Saturday morning; police looking for suspect

Updated at 8:45 a.m. – According to police, the victims were in attendance at an after party for the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity’s “Probate” ceremonies that had rented the VFW for the festivities. 

According to party goers, a fight inside the building moved outside, where an unknown person(s) began shooting. No suspect information was given about the shooter(s).

The two victims are being treated at a local area hospital and are listed in stable condition.

Updated at 5 a.m. – In an unrelated case to the Guthrie VFW shooting, Guthrie News Page has confirmed an 18-year-old was shot in the back in Logan County. Sheriff investigators are en route to the Twin Lakes area, which is located south of Crescent.

The victim was transferred from Mercy Logan County to OU Medical Center just before 3:30 a.m.

3 a.m. – Original Story

Two people have been taken to an Oklahoma City hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting took place on Guthrie’s south side early Saturday morning. Right now, police are looking for suspect information.

The Guthrie Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were notified that a female had been shot at the Guthrie VFW, located at 5223 S. Division, just after 1 a.m. Moments later, they got a second call of another victim with a gunshot wound to the head at 6th and Noble on Guthrie’s west side.

A black male was seen being transported to the ambulance at 6th and Noble with a bandage around his head. He was quickly taken to the hospital by Guthrie EMS. His last known condition was critical.

The vehicle, a black Camaro with an Arkansas license plate, had a bullet shot through the back window.

Back at the VFW, a black female was reported shot three times. Witnesses at the scene says she was shot in the arm, leg and foot. Guthrie EMS treated the 28-year-old victim, who was later flown to OKC at around 2 a.m. It is unknown of her condition at this time.

The third victim, a 19-year-old black female, was seen with a serious face injury after being assaulted. She was transported to an Edmond hospital by a Guthrie police officer.

A fourth victim, arrived to Mercy Logan County around 3 a.m. with an undisclosed injury. She was transferred to OU Medical Center.

Once officers and deputies arrived at the VFW, they reported over 100 vehicles in the parking lot. It is unknown what event was being held, at this time, but many of the people inside were described as possible students from Langston University. Several vehicles were seen heading north on Division St. from the VFW.

On request of the police department, the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations was called in to help assist with the crime scene. Investigators remained on the scene and are expected to be there for several more hours.

Police are working to find leads on possible suspect(s). No one is in custody at this time.

  2. That is not true. Violence can happen anywhere or anytime. For all we know, the viticms and the suspect might not have anything to do with Langston.

  3. Guthrie has had plenty of violence lately and Langston was not involved. Example the pathetic beating of an autistic young adult, really okie
