Video: Car catches fire near gas pumps

A couple had just filled their vehicle with gasoline when soon after smoke and flames came out from underneath the hood of the four-door car.

The Guthrie Fire Department responded to the Loves convenience store, located on Highway 33 near Interstate 35 at 2:07 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fire officials say soon after the couple left the gas pumps, is when smoke and flames could be seen shooting out. The driver of the car was able to drive away in a safe distance from the pumps.

A nearby trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was able to knock down the majority of the flames with an extinguisher allowing the fire department to completely take out the flames.

Fire crews were on scene for about 25 minutes.

Both the male and female occupants were able to get out from the vehicle.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.
