Walmart to require all customers to wear masks

Walmart will require customers to wear masks in all their stores in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the company announced on Wednesday.

Beginning July 20, the nation’s largest retailer will mandate face coverings at all its stores, including Sam’s Club. The company will provide complimentary masks for customers.

“While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities,” Walmart’s Chief Operating Officer Dacona Smith said.

Costco began requiring its members to wear facial coverings in its warehouses in May. Starbucks begins its face covering mandate this week. Next week, Best Buy will require all of its shoppers to wear masks.

“We know some people have differing opinions on this topic,” Smith said in a press release. “We also recognize the role we can play to help protect the health and well-being of the communities we serve by following the evolving guidance of health officials like the CDC.”

The Guthrie Walmart is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  1. Done with Walmart.

    • I am also no longer patronizing WM. Not knowing where you live, I suggest you try Hometown in Crescent. We went there yesterday and found it was very clean (unable to say that about the WMs in Guthrie or Edmond) and well stocked with friendly personnel. It is a bit more expensive, but it’s locally owned, so the money doesn’t go to support the Walton brats.

  2. That’s another store out off of my list.

  3. A great decision. I will feel so much safer when I shop. Even though I wear a mask all the time, I don’t want some of those other customers breathing, sneezing & coughing on my clothes or my food.

  4. Done with Walmart? Why?? Let me put it to you like this. Since Trump is a self proclaimed wartime president, let me try to put it in military terms. If a chemical warhead was deployed on your town and it was determined that the area would be contaminated for 6 months following the event. And officials determined that residents should wear a mask when outside to protect themselves. What would you do? Would you say, “I’m done”? Or would you believe the science behind wearing a mask to protect yourself? Well, it’s basically the same thing, except in this case you are wearing a mask to protect others, not just yourself. You sound ridiculous and foolish.

Not wearing a mask is selfish and foolish. It just shows you dont care about you neighbors.
