Watch: Baseball run-rules, no hits Del City; Little League donates $14,000 to the program

If there was ever a perfect day at Squires Field, Thursday afternoon would have been that day. Guthrie Baseball picked up a run-rule victory, three pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter, Fogarty Elementary Honor Choir performed the national anthem and the baseball program received a $14,005 donation for a new scoreboard.

The Jays celebrated Senior Day as Tyler Kisner and Rigo Martinez played their final game inside Squires Field. The day was also titled Little League Baseball Day as little leaguers joined the players for the starting lineups and on the field.

You can view the game below this article.

Kisner got the start on the mound and delivered by throwing four innings and collecting six strikeouts to lead the Jays to a 12-0 five inning win.

On Tuesday, Evan Kowalski tossed a no-hitter against the Eagles and nearly a perfect game as he faced just one hitter over the limit in an 11-0 win.

On Thursday, Guthrie scored on a single by Austin Honeycutt, a double by Mitchell Taft and an error in the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead.

The Jays, who scored in every inning, scored five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a fielder’s choice by Taft, a wild pitch and a home run by Blake Curtin. The round tripper was the sixth for the team and the first for Curtin.

Martinez threw two-thirds of an inning. He and Kisner were replaced from the game with two outs in the seventh to be congratulated by coaches, teammates and fans.

Honeycutt, Kisner and Cole House each collected multiple hits for Guthrie Bluejays . Curtin and Taft each drove in two runs to lead Guthrie Bluejays.

Guthrie, who finishes the regular season at 14-13, collected 11 hits and played error free baseball.

The Jays finish the season by winning eight of their last 10 games.

Donation to help fund new scoreboard

Before the game, Guthrie Little League Baseball Association donated $14,005 to the high school program for a brand new scoreboard. The future 10 inning scoreboard will be placed in left field.

Head coach Casey Porter says the program continues to gain momentum.

“Guthrie Baseball has one of the steepest traditions in Oklahoma as far as baseball goes. There are a lot of people that have helped build that tradition.”
