Watch: Shelby Frost named GPS Student of the Month

Junior Shelby Frost was named Guthrie Public School’s March Student of the Month. She was nominated by her teacher Angie Simonton for the character trait of responsibility.

Shelby is the design editor for the Guthrie High School yearbook and according to her teacher takes her role seriously.

“She feels personally responsible for making sure the yearbook is inclusive, interesting and that we meet our deadlines,” Simonton said who nominated Shelby.

While being the editor of a book that will forever capture the moments of the school year, Simonton says Shelby knows how to make the work fun.

“She always volunteers to do interviews or whatever else needs attention. Shelby and her team have designed every page of the yearbook, and she was meticulous to detail,” Simonton added.

Simonton finished by saying, “Many students touch our lives, and when we are lucky, some of them become our friends for life. I am proud that she is part of my team, and I am a better person for knowing Shelby Frost.

Along with yearbook, Shelby enjoys agriculture and the Link Crew.

Each month Guthrie Public Schools and Foundation Insurance team up to find the school district’s student of the month.

Although there are no specific grade requirements, the student must be in good-standing in the classroom to be eligible. Overall, the district says they are searching for students who go above and beyond in the way they treat their peers and teachers.

Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance congratulated Shelby and presented her with a certificate and a $60 gift card to Stacy’s Place.
