Watch: Throckmorton named GPS Student of the Month

Guthrie Junior High School student Mollie Throckmorton was named the Guthrie Public Schools Student of the Month for September. She was honored at Monday evening’s Board of Education meeting.

GPS and Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance have teamed up for the third straight year to honor students for the character traits. Teachers and faculty select students who have displayed behavior deserving of recognition.

Throckmorton, the daughter of Dusty and Marjorie Throckmorton, was recognized for her humility and kindness.

Mollie was selected by her seventh grade science teacher Tina Ogle, who says Mollie is a model student.

“She comes to class prepared, participates in discussions, and always does her best on every assignment. While these qualities are very important and appreciated by her teachers, it’s Mollie’s character that makes her stand out,” Ogle said.

“She consistently looks for ways to show kindness and acceptance to all students.”

Wimsey congratulated Mollie and presented her with a certificate and a $65 gift card to Stacy’s Place.

Although there are no specific grade requirements, the student must be in good-standing in the classroom to be eligible. Overall, the district says they are searching for students who go above and beyond in the way they treat their peers and teachers.
