Earthquakes within minutes shake Oklahoma

Oklahoma was shaking on Wednesday evening, twice. The larger than normal earthquakes were felt throughout Central Oklahoma, including Guthrie.

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately at 10:27 p.m. Its epicenter was located near Fairview, Oklahoma, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A minute later a 4.8 quake struck near Alva, Oklahoma.

The Fairview quake was 3.3 miles deep and the Alva quake was 4.7 miles deep.

A third quake struck near Alva at 10:37 p.m. It registered a 3.4 and was 3.1 miles deep.

The fourth quake struck at 10:49, again, near Fairview. This time it was a 3.4 magnitude and 3.1 miles deep.

No damages or injuries associated with the earthquake have been reported. Damage and injury are far more likely with quakes that register 4.0 and higher, the USGS reports.
