The Guthrie High School powerlifting team competed at the area powerlifting meet, in Cashion, on Saturday. Three members of the team are guaranteed a spot at the state powerlifting meet this Friday at McLoud High School.

Cole Minter placed second, at 123 pounds, with a total of 575 pounds, Malachi Galbraith was fourth, at 242 pounds, with a total of 1205, and Blake Belcher was fifth, at 275 pounds, with a 1235 lb total. Other members may go as at-large lifters, which will be decided on Monday.

The coaches were very proud of the way the team lifted as every member got a personal best lift in at least one lift. The three lifts are the squat, bench, and deadlift.

“The team has been working hard all winter to get ready for these two weeks of competition, and we are all proud of these young men,” coach Kelly Beeby said.

The state meet will be held, at McLoud High School, on Friday March 11th, and lifting will begin around 9:00 am.
