The Guthrie boys basketball team was unable to add any points in the second quarter as the Midwest City Bombers kept a steady pace on day two of the Ardmore Holiday Festival.

6A’s fourth ranked Bombers, who were upset the previous day by Putnam City West, took out some of their frustration in a 63-41 win. The Jays fall to 2-2 overall on the season after starting the season off at 2-0.

Guthrie jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead, but the Bombers finished the half with a 23-5 run to take a 25-11 half time advantage, including a 13-0 second quarter run.

Freshmen sensation Kai Callins paced the Jays with a game high 16 points.

Guthrie, who continues to play without senior leader Kentrell Brothers and Richard Brothers, got going in the second half with 30 points, but allowed 38 points to the Bombers.

The Jays offense has scored just 75 points in their two losses in Ardmore. Prior to that they had scored 123 points in their first two games of the season with a full squad.

Up next for Guthrie will be a 1:00 game Thursday afternoon against Southeast in the seventh place game.
