OKLAHOMA CITY — Governor Mary Fallin announced today she has approved the use of nearly $1.4 million from the state emergency fund to bolster the efforts of regulators and earthquake researchers in Oklahoma.
Early last August, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission established an official “cutback zone”. The Commission created this zone in response to our area’s seismic swarms.

As promised, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s office has made mandatory changes to oil and gas wastewater disposal well operations just across the Logan County line. The action comes after earthquakes shook the Edmond and southern Logan County area.

As the headline of this article was being typed out another one hit. Yep, earthquake. Logan County has again been hit with numerous earthquakes over night, including five with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher.
An earthquake shook Guthrie and several nearby towns as the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 4.3 quake at 3:52 p.m. It was definitely not the “normal” earthquake that is most commonly felt in Guthrie.
