The Guthrie Chamber of Commerce is wanting businesses in town to be careful of a possible scam involving the Better Business Bureau.
President Mary Coffin said her office was contacted by several downtown businesses about a person calling identifying himself as a representative of the Better Business Bureau.
The person calling told the business that they have received so many positive calls about their business. They followed the compliment by asking to be a member of the Better Business Bureau and requesting credit card information at the time.
“We couldn’t confirm that this is a legitimate sales call,” Coffin said.
Coffin went further to say they could not confirm if it was a legitimate sales call, but did urge to “never give out your personal information to someone over the phone.”
